Matthias, age 25 - consultant
Qualification: Degree in Information Management and Systems
job content
My degree in Information Management and Systems at the Catholic High School of Mechelen gave me a solid foundation in IT-related subjects as well as in several business areas. This proved to be an asset when applying for a job with Keyrus. A big plus was my knowledge of data warehousing and BI tools, more specifically Cognos.
It was important for me not to reside in one specific IT area, such as development, but to be able to grow in a professional environment and expand my knowledge in multiple areas. Next to that, having contact with several business environments appealed to me. These things encouraged me to pursue a career as BI consultant.
During the last 2 years I have been involved in several projects, every one of them having its own challenges. I was able to assist a senior analyst in the analysis of a data warehousing project, and took part of the implementation afterwards. I was also responsible for part of a scoping project, allowing me to further investigate the BI market. Other projects I have done were mainly Cognos related. I have been in contact with business areas such as customer relations, supply chain, human resources, accounting and have worked for customers in banking, cosmetics, media, food and pharmaceutical industry. My current project allows me to be involved in all phases of the project lifecycle, which is a great opportunity.
Nowadays I can consider myself being a Cognos specialist, able to gather reporting requirements, and to translate these into adequate data models and reports. Every day I am able to learn new things, and to expand my skill set.
career
Great advantage of working for Keyrus is the ability for each consultant to continuously improve his professional skills. Every consultant is guided towards his desired long-term objectives, by communicating with, and through the steering of Keyrus management.
All consultants have their own training budget, allowing them to further develop skills to achieve their objectives and to take in a better position on the market. Each consultant is assigned a coach, who is then responsible for guidance towards short- and long-term objectives.
Most importantly, being one of the leaders in the business intelligence and data warehousing market, Keyrus allows you to learn from the best.
work environment
Next to the high professional environment, the human aspect and the work environment is very important.
As a consultant you are mainly on the client site, nevertheless there is camaraderiebetween Keyrus employees. During my employment, Keyrus has shown itself to think highly of team spirit.
Every year the 'fun team' organises a teambuilding event, and a family weekend. Every few months there is a quarterly meeting, where newcomers are introduced, Keyrus' financial figures are presented, and new projects/clients are illustrated.
Last but not least, every month an after work drink is organized. This enables Keyrus employees to socialize, and allows them to get to know the new faces within the company.
