introduction to master data management - concepts, drivers, solutions

12/05/2009 at 19:30
KHM - Campus De Ham - Aula Hanswijk, Mechelen

Bert Wustenberghs has broad experience in implementing various IT projects, the last 20 years predominantly related to data warehousing & business intelligence, and the delivery of corporate performance management information in multi-national organizations.

Inconsistent data have a negative impact on the internal and external company. In environments that have grown through mergers or acquisitions of companies, one is generally confronted with non-standardised and non-integrated data. The problem usually becomes apparent at the level of master data, such as customers, products, suppliers, etc.

The process to once harmonise and standardise these master data offers a temporary solution only. Future consistency of the master data is guaranteed only through proper (re)organisation of the data structures and processes.

Master data management (MDM) has been known for a long time, but recently it has developed into a specific area in the area of data integration. The primary objective is to create within an organisation or company one central database, which serves as a reference for (all) other systems. As such it also serves as one of the most important source systems for data warehouses.

This evening seminar is brought by Bert Wustenberghs, who perfectly combines theory and practice into a compelling session:

  • Principal consultant data warehousing & business intelligence,
  • Experienced data warehouse architect & data modeller
  • Project manager
  • Senior business analyst (finance, manufacturing, automotive, chemical)
  • Lector at EHSAL Management School in Brussels

Bert has broad experience in implementing various IT projects, the last 20 years predominantly related to data warehousing & business intelligence, and the delivery of corporate performance management information in multi-national organizations.

This session offers a general introduction into master data management, mainly focusing on the necessity for organisations to consider it, together with the advantages of doing so, and less on the technical implementation.

Networking is important. This session will be followed by a networking drink with ample opportunities to share experiences with your peers.
