Keyrus has developed its own approach to Business Intelligence and Performance Management projects. Rather than being a new project management framework, our approach focuses on the core activities and deliverables required to initiate, design and implement Performance Management solutions from an end-to-end perspective, capitalizing on our expertise and lessons learnt gained in numerous assignments.
Our methodology is driven by the following objectives:
- Increase the quality level of our deliverables and ensure the consistent usage of best practices throughout the Keyrus group.
- Execute our assignments and deliver solutions with the best quality/time/budget ratios.
- Improve the quality of our project planning and estimates upfront, guaranteeing the right number of resources, the right budget and timeline from the early initiation.
- Give each project all chances of success from the earliest stages of its lifecycle.
- Improve the capitalization of the knowledge gained in our assignments.
Keyrus' methodology ensures the timely delivery of a fit-for-purpose solution to the client's business needs. Our BI/PM methodology is not a PMBOK-like approach (Project Management Body of Knowledge), nor an evolution of the existing methodology from another consulting company. It is a practical framework that aims at delivering best quality level results, within a pre-defined time frame and budget. Given the length and the complexity of the process, our methodology has been structured around seven phases, and defines activities, tasks, roles and deliverables using the following canvas:

- phases: phases represent the timeline of the project lifecycle. There are seven phases in our methodology, from preparation until maintenance, covering all aspects of a business intelligence or performance management implementation.
- activities: activities are directed towards a specific set of deliverables or components of the performance management solution. Activities can span over multiple phases, as architecture activities start from the initiation and end after the integration tests.
- tasks: tasks are present at each crossing of a phase and an activity of the methodology. Each task requires resources (templates, people and skills) and produces an output, materialized as deliverables.
Each phase is directed to specific goals:
- prepare: this phase focuses on the definition of the strategy that will be applied to deliver the business intelligence and performance management solutions and meet the corporate performance requirements. The essential and strategic foundation of a successful solution lies in a clear definition of scope and goals, from both a business and IT perspective.
- understand: understanding the details of the performance requirements cannot be bypassed when building the foundation of any performance management solution. This phase focuses on the investigation, analysis, clarification and understanding of the finest details of the individual elements of the performance requirements.
- translate: the realization merely depends on the accurate translation of the actual business challenges into a clear and actionable design. The design of an adequate solution capitalizes on the understanding and knowledge gained in the previous phases of the project, preparing for the more technical next steps and securing the alignment of those with the performance requirements of the organization.
- build: the building phase embraces the largest part of the technical work, transforming the vision and design into a reality matching the performance requirements of the organization. Off-shore development activities are available through Keyrus, optimizing the cost of the most workload-consuming activities of building the performance management foundations.
- verify: ensuring the adequacy of the solution and its alignment to the initial performance requirements as understood and designed by the project team is subject to thorough testing and verification. Keyrus uses a V-model approach for testing, organizing tests not only as a phase, but also as a continuous activity during the entire project lifecycle.
- deploy: because the success of the solution is largely driven by its adoption by the business community, and because adoption drives success and evolutions, a structured deployment and hand-over process cannot be bypassed to allow full accessibility and adoption of the solution. Keyrus accompanies its customers along the entire way of the project.
- maintain: as performance requirements evolve together with the competitive context and evolutions of the company, maintenance services are included in the last phase of our methodology, covering both the corrective and evolutionary maintenance processes. Our main objective here is to ensure the continuity and continuous improvement of the performance management solutions.
